As I am trying to build a business 100% legally in Indonesia (as a foreigner), I now understand why a lot of investors take “shortcuts”.
Between all the licenses, permits, recommendation letters, certificates and other agreements.. Things seem to be designed to make you accept the side ways that are offered on the road.
It’s difficult to get things done when the country has so many levels of administrative authority: banjar, village, regency, country.
But I am optimistic that the second term of Jokowi will keep improving those processes, which are already better now that they used to be.
Indonesia is moving forward, and it’s not an easy task to manage a 250,000,000 people family, I get that.
I am blessed I get to work with people who are smarter than me, and really understand the mechanics of the country and always guide me to the wisest choices.
The great thing is, once the process is integrated, I will have all it takes to duplicate it and scale businesses here.
And to help other entrepreneurs who want to follow a similar path.
Step by step, we’re getting there.
