Nobody cares about the truth.

People care about stories that give them a sense of purpose, and make them feel better.

This is one of the biggest issues with science.

Science seeks the truth, but doesn’t make anybody feel good. For most, science is boring and annoying.

Science demonstrates that the whole world is collapsing due to our action.

Nobody likes to hear this.

That’s why people came up with theories in which climate emergency is a government led conspiracy to get more taxes from them.

It gives them a a common enemy, a dramatic story, and make them feel better about their negative impact on the planet.

I wish everybody would understand this.

Yuval Noah Harari said in his book Sapiens, that our ability to believe in stories that we know aren’t true, is what led us to develop so far as a civilisation.

Turns out this ability is also what causes us to go extinct, while knowing how to survive.
