Morning routines used to sound the same to me as New Year’s resolutions.
Some stuff you know are important for you to do,
you write on paper or some note,
and do for a week before giving up.
One of the reasons why is, we overthink it,
we make it too complicated.
You can’t build 100 new habits at the same time,
But you can build 100 new habits, one at a time.
After successfully focusing on only one thing during the past week (waking up at 5:30AM every day), I decided to keep doing this and building a minimalistic morning routine around it.
Nothing overwhelming.
No crazy 1h meditation or mandatory yoga session.
Just simple things leading me to start my day the right way.
Here are the 5 simple things I commit to do every morning for the next 7 days:
1) Wake up at 5:30AM
2) Drink a bottle of water (500mL)
3) Walk around / Exercise outside for 15-30min
4) Shower
5) Write and post an article
I wrote it in a pinned note in my phone, and added the following guidelines:
“When waking up, go straight out of bed, don’t waste time on the phone
There is nothing important to check on the phone during the first 2h of the day
If you miss one of those steps, don’t feel guilty. What matters is to do your best, be aware of what you missed, and do better the day after.
After you posted your daily article, your day is already a success,
and il will probably only be 8:30AM.
Enjoy it ❤️”
And that’s it.
Just this note, and 5 extremely simple steps.
No pressure of fear of failing,
No overwhelming task.
Do it, and let me know how it feels.
