The most insightful mentor I found here when it comes to building and interior design told me where he learnt everything from Pinterest.

He would just enter keywords or pictures into the Pinterest app, and scroll through hundreds of related content to get inspiration from.

“Let’s check on Pinterest” became such a casual thing for us here that we jokingly call it the “Pinterest University”.

The app has a visual search engine that lets you take or upload a picture of anything, and it will automatically show an infinite feed of similar pictures.

And it’s very accurate.

If I look for inspiration for pyramid shaped bamboo buildings, I just need to choose a pic from my phone, or take a pic of an example I have in front of me, and the app will show me thousands of similar architectures.

When you click on one of the suggested pic, you can scroll down and Pinterest generates another infinite list of similar pictures based on that one.

You can also combine this with keyword research.

For example, if I want to look for luxury bungalows interior design, I would just search for “Maldives Bungalow Interior”, and see what’s on the list.

If something looks good or if it’s similar to what I have in mind, I click on it, and scroll down to see the similar pictures suggested by Pinterest.

I can then refine my research by navigating the suggestions.

I am so glad I learnt this strategy from a local here, proving once again how some people can do wonders with the same free tools that everyone else would use to just post selfies.

A few months ago, I had no idea how useful Pinterest could be.

Today, the app is my main source of inspiration when it comes to architecture, interior design and other resort features.

I am pretty sure you can find a ton of other very practical and useful used for the app in very different industries.

If you’re using Pinterest for your business, please share below how the is app helping you. I’m curious to see more use cases.
