The original title was: “Hitler Had Good Intentions, Just Like You”, but my friend Renira pointed out that Hitler was overused as a default evil in this World, so let’s take a (huge) risk and replace it by British Colonisers.

Anyway, this post isn’t about British Colonists.

This post is about good intentions.
And it’s about you.

I used to think that people who did bad things were people who had bad intentions.

It made sense, it was logical, and it made me feel ok with how I thought the World works.

Here are the good people.
Here are the bad people.

And mom and dad teach you how to be with the good people.

But this is not how things work.

Over time, I realised that everyone actually does want to do good, in some kind of way.

I have never met anybody who woke up and consciously felt like they wanted to fuck up the World for the sake of doing it.

Just to be bad.

I am not saying there is no bad people out there,
I am saying that those who we call bad people also have good intentions.

Just like you, me, and British Colonists.

As I am going through life, I realise that good intentions don’t really mean shit.

Actions do.

The saying goes: “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”, and it’s brilliantly true.

It means that regardless what you intend to do, it won’t ever mean anything if you don’t back it up with action.

Being based in Ubud, I sometimes get sick of spiritual-ish people preaching whoever want to listen to them that what matters is to set your intentions write and ask the universe.

The universe is not your bitch, it’s not like you can sit under a coconut tree together with your ego and your self-entitlement and ask it to bring you shit and it will happen.

Results come to those who dare.

And if the universe would be to reward people in some kind of way, it would probably reward those who get themselves out there and do shit.

Because every single human being on the planet is able to have good intentions.

Not every one of them is able to back those intentions with actions.

The British Colonists and Hitler actually did back their intentions with actions for years. Massive actions.

For the results we know.

So if you have good intentions today, good on you.

But if you also intend to get the results you think should be part of this World, don’t just wait for it to happen.

Don’t just ask for it.

Put yourself out there, and show the universe or whoever you believe in, that you are part of those who dare.

Because those who you think today are the bad guys, don’t miss a single chance to do what they think is the right thing to do.

So make sure you know what is your right thing to do,
and just go do it.

P.S.: If you have been offended in any way by those words, I am sorry. It wasn’t my intention.
