Kabisu Sumba

Kabisu is a villa and hospitality project on Sumba, an island known for its landscape and culture and for developing at a slower, more deliberate pace than Bali.

What it is

Kabisu is a villa and hospitality development on Sumba. It is being built with the same operator-first approach as Reconnect: design that fits the place, infrastructure that actually works, and a plan to run it well once it opens.

The project is in development. Details on design, units, and timelines will be shared as they are confirmed rather than promised in advance.

Why it exists

Sumba is one of the more interesting hospitality opportunities in Indonesia, with strong natural and cultural draw and far less saturation than the established markets. The opportunity is real, but so is the gap between a good location and a working business.

Kabisu exists to do it the careful way: build something that holds up, respects the setting, and makes sense as a long-term operation rather than a quick flip.

Key challenges and opportunities

  • Land, access, and construction logistics on a less developed island.
  • Building and finishing to a standard that travels well without importing a generic luxury template.
  • Establishing operations and staffing in a market that is still maturing.
  • Matching pace to reality rather than to a marketing calendar.
