Reconnect Island Resort

Reconnect is an off-grid resort built and operated on Buka Buka Island. Solar arrays and battery storage handle energy. Desalination and rainwater handle fresh water. Starlink handles connectivity. The work of running it is the work of running a small piece of infrastructure in a place where nothing arrives by accident.

Guests come for diving, quiet water, and the wider Togean Islands region, which is one of the more remote and less developed parts of coastal Indonesia. The resort offers a private-feeling island stay without claiming to be something it is not.

Everything from boats and logistics to staffing, maintenance, and guest experience is handled on site. That end-to-end operation is the part most people underestimate, and it is the part that defines whether a remote resort works at all.

There are beautiful places in Indonesia that almost no one can reach, and reaching them well is an infrastructure problem before it is a hospitality problem. Reconnect started as an attempt to solve that problem properly rather than to market a fantasy.

The goal has always been a real, durable operation: one that can run year after year, employ and train local staff, and hold a high standard in a location that punishes shortcuts.
